Last week flew right on by. It seemed like there was something exciting taking place each day and night. This week will be equally as busy. As I often mention we cannot allow all of the various activities that are taking place cause us to lose our focus.
One of the best moments from last week for me was having the opportunity to hang out with Mrs. Pam Reeder and her husband at the GISD Retirement banquet. I loved listening to her as she shared with me her love for Naaman Forest, and how she misses the students. See, they are the best part of what we do. That’s why we have to give them our best. Mrs. Reeder has left a legacy at Naaman. We are all chasing legendary status. Be the legend that your students need!
There are so many things to brag on at Naaman this week.
Let’s start off by shouting out Mrs. Vanessa Dry! She was recognized as the Texas State Advisor of the Year at the International DECA Competition. Wow! So excited for Vanessa.
Roger Janel was a top 10 tester at the International DECA Competition!!! We even think that this is the highest honor any GISD student has ever received at the International DECA Competition. We are checking on this, but we are pretty sure. (Smile) Go Roger!
DA McCartney qualified for the State Track and Field meet in Austin in two weeks in the 300 meter hurdles. Congratulations DA!
Our amazing softball team whipped up on Berkner in Bi-District playoff action this past Friday and Saturday! Great job by all team members! Let’s keep it rolling in the playoffs!
Our baseball team clinched a playoff spot by taking down Lakeview Friday. They really put it on ‘em!
Don’t say this too loud but Naaman is one of only two schools in GISD that made the playoffs in every single sport…forget that, scream it loud! Not only have we kicked tail in sports, but our One Act Play team advanced several times, our various bands won sweepstakes, as well as the choir, and DECA grew by leaps and bounds and had a top 10 tester. I could literally go on and on. We have so much to be proud of!
We Are Naaman!
Thank you for attending the Retirees’ banquet and sitting with Pam and John. We are very proud of Pam and all she has accomplished in her years here at NF., and we sure miss her in the library!
