Can you believe it’s November? Well, it’s here. I know I’ve said this before, but I really can’t believe how fast the school year is going. Shoots, Thanksgiving break is only two weeks away. That’s crazy!
Hey folks we have two big things this week at Naaman. The first is the GISD High School Expo. This is a big event for us. This is the time when many of our families get their first sneak peak of our school. We will be doing things a little differently this year but the goal remains the same. All GISD families have to know the great things that we have to offer their child/children. There will be many of you as well as some of our students who will be participating in this event. There will be a short meeting Tuesday after-school to go over the protocol for this event. Remember we have to be intentional about everything we do. Our next big event is the end of the grading cycle. I know I know…Some of our students that have seemed they haven’t cared seem to wake up and want help. Well, that’s what we are here for. Let’s help all we can to get the students across the finish line. It’s not about us, but it’s about them. When they are successful we are successful.
I want to re-visit the usage of anchor charts in your instruction. Many of you have done a great job using them in your classroom. Some of you are still proving to be late adopters. As I told you in the staff meeting, so many of our students learn through visuals and anchoring their learning is a great use of this. Please review this simple page that can reacquaint you with anchor charts if you have forgotten since initially training. https://www.weareteachers.com/anchor-charts-101-why-and-how-to-use-them-plus-100s-of-ideas/ Remember our usage of anchor charts is not optional at Naaman.
Shout out to the theatre department. They put on a great show last week for many GISD elementary students. Great job by all! They even got to sign autographs!
Another shout out goes to the football team for clinching a spot in the playoffs. This is the 3rd straight year that Naaman has made the postseason.
