This week begins National Assistant Principal’s Week all across the United States. There are so many great assistant principals that give so much of themselves each and every day for our schools. I salute all of them. They often do their work behind the scenes with little recognition for our students and staff. Personally, I have been fortune to work with many great assistant principals in my career. They were hard working, supportive, caring, and kid friendly. Our schools would not be what they are without them.

I still remember the time I served as an AP. It was a unique experience for me because of my age and the fact that I served as a teacher/coach on the same campus. I learned a lot and was fortunate to have a patient, supportive principal and colleagues that were equally as supportive. It was a fun time!

If you have time today or this week take time to celebrate any assistant principals you know. They are the unsung heroes of the education community and this week is a great week to celebrate their tremendous efforts!
