It’s Homecoming week at The Forest! That means excitement all around from our wonderful students. We all want them to have a fun memorable week, however we cannot forget what is most important. It would be tragic if we allow one week to derail us of our goals.
I can still remember my Senior Homecoming at Hearne High School. I was fresh off meniscus repair surgery from an injury I sustained in the second scrimmage against the Bellville Brahmas (Check out the pic below, lol). The thing is I remember the dress up days, the decorations, the bonfire, the parade, the game, and the homecoming dance. Hopefully you have great memories about your HS days. If not, make memories at Naaman.
I spoke to you in the faculty & staff meeting about the importance of knowing how your students are performing in your class. Remember, we teach for mastery. When students do not master what they are expected to learn and do, then it is our job to ensure that they reach mastery. That’s where reteach and intervention come in. How you reteach and intervene is up to you, but it must happen if students are not at mastery. It’s also a plus when you differentiate the instruction in your class to benefit the needs of your students. Think about your own unique learning styles. We learn differently because we are different. Your students will certainly appreciate differentiation in your learning plan.
So, I have to tell you about the talent show. I know most of you were unable to see it, and I didn’t get to see every act but you must know that we have some incredibly talented students at Naaman. I was simply blown away by some of the acts that I saw. The unique talents of our students simply add to the strength of this great school.
Wow! The Ranger football team is still on a roll! We have a big game Friday against a Garland team who will be out to knock us out. Try to make it out and be in the stands to yell the Rangers on to victory.
Have a great week!
We Are Naaman!
