The first week is complete and it’s now game time. Hopefully you got some rest this past weekend or you sulked in the Cowboys lost like I did. I really thought it was our year! Lol!
Last week was a fast and furious week. We ended the week with a great College and Career day. It was great to see our students learning more about colleges and potential career fields. It was also great to see some of our alumni on campus giving valuable information to our current students. Sometimes it’s best coming from their peers vs some of us. Thank you to Mrs. McGrath and the counseling team for putting on a great day for our Juniors and Seniors.
I spent the majority of the week visiting middle schools in our district recruiting the future of Naaman Forest. I enjoyed meeting many potential Rangers. I will continue to visit middle schools at any point I am allowed to do so. Naaman is the place to be!
Someone told me last week that we seem to have a lot going on. Well we do! And that’s ok! What we must remember though is that we have to keep the main thing the main thing. Yes! The main thing is a great learning experience for our students (Tier 1 learning experience). If they are not learning and learning at a high level then we are failing them. Our main points of focus will be on engagement, formative assessment, and reteach. We will continue to refine these in PLCs. Remember all instruction can be refined. We are not at a point where we are beyond refinement. I just ask that you are open to the process. When we work together the things we can do are limitless. So while we steam ahead with CCMR 5 to 70, launch our Collegiate Academy, launch #Observeme, build a mentoring program, change the way we look at events, and recruit and retain the best extracurricular programs and activities in GISD let’s stay focused. It will not all be easy, but it’s all for our wonderful students.
Congratulations to the Girls Soccer team for winning the Garland ISD soccer tournament. Go Rangers!

Have a great week!
