A teacher’s heart!
I was watching a terrible video on Facebook the other day where a student crossed the line with a teacher in an aggressive manner. After I watched the video I decided to read the comments under the video. Most of the individuals that commented were in support of the teacher, however many of the folks kept saying over and over “There is no way I could be a teacher.” I immediately thought to myself that they are all right. Teaching is not for everyone. It’s a difficult job that requires incredible amounts of patience. The type of patience that most folks are not built for. While having incredible amounts of patience you often have to be a friend, an entertainer, a listener, an enforcer, and the list goes on and on. Even when it is challenging, you are making a difference. So many of you have great relationships with our most difficult students because you care. Schools cannot be great learning spaces without great teachers leading the charge. Your hearts are big and your students know it! Thanks for what you do for all of your students.
When I wrote this I thought of my 9th grade Honors Biology teacher Mrs. Einkauf. She made me love science in a way that I never thought was possible. Even though she did some amazing things in the classroom I remember her most for her heart. She was always willing to take time to help a young freshman still trying to get it all together. Thanks Denise!
Have a great day!
