A New Week!

The finish line is almost near.  We have been involved in two straight weeks of testing and it’s finally complete.  Thank you to everyone who worked to make it go extremely smooth.  We will still have some makeup days here and there as well.

It is important to continue your engaged classroom instruction.  Your students must know that it is not free time.  They can see the finish line just like we can.  As I mentioned to you earlier you have to dig deep as you reach the finish line.  Keep pushing!

Last week another student walked into a school and shot several students.  As I watched the news Friday my stomach turned upside down watching this happen just a few miles down the road.  I still believe that school is a safe space for our students.  We have to continue to encourage and talk to our students.  Good student/staff relationships matter.  We also have to encourage our students to forge positive relationships with their classmates.  As teachers you have the best relationships with our students.  Keep listening to them.  Be that positive light they need!

Make sure you check out Nicholette’s weekly email to get caught up on all the week’s activities.

We will have a faculty and staff meeting this Wednesday at 2:52 pm in the auditorium.

A big shout out to Daisy Navarro who scored a 4 at the regional and state VASE (Art) competition.  She was also honored with the best in show at the GISD Student Art Show!  Wow!

Have a great week!
